One of the most requested features we’ve had over 2012 was to include link categories in affiliate link slugs.
In 2.1 we delivered on this feature introducing the option to add the slug from your link categories to the url of your affiliate link.
This means you can truly categorize your affiliate links in a way that your customers will view to be even more trustworthy.
An example use case for this feature would be to change your link prefix to “products”, then use the link category in affiliate link feature to introduce product categories for your affiliate links.
This is fantastic way to use ThirstyAffiliates for niche eCommerce websites that rely on affiliate networks to earn money from customer referrals.
New users have access to this feature straight away and existing users will receive this feature when upgrading via their dashboard.
We recommend only enabling this setting on new websites that you are setting up from scratch as this will change the URL of existing affiliate links. The links already existing inside posts will not be changed automatically.
We hope you enjoy using the link category in affiliate link slugs feature, we know that you’ll all find some really creative uses for this much anticipated feature!
